Drug interference — withhold before imaging

DaTSCAN (¹²³I-FP-CIT)

Cocaine, amphetamines	High-affinity DAT blockers — reduce binding; stop ≥5 half-lives
Methylphenidate, modafinil, bupropion, mazindol, benzatropine	Reduce striatal binding — withhold
SSRIs	May increase binding (~10%) — interpret with caution
Thyroid blockade	KI/Lugol’s ≥1 h before against free ¹²³I

Levodopa, dopamine agonists, MAO-B inhibitors, neuroleptics and cholinesterase inhibitors do not need to be stopped (EANM/SNMMI dopaminergic imaging guideline 2020).
